Representatives from thirty-nine different colleges from all across the nation are coming to Fossil the week of October 5. The Career Center, a busy place most weeks, is going to be full of college reps all throughout the week who are in town for college fairs and eager to speak with prospective attendees of the colleges they represent. College reps are great for help with postgraduate planning and can answer students’ questions about why they should go to a certain college, and what it takes to get into that college.

The annual Colorado Western Slope College Fair in Aspen, Colorado is on Sunday, October 4, and with it are about 250 college admissions officers from out of state, and even the country. There is also an Out of State College Fair at Poudre High School on October 6. College reps try to visit as many high schools as possible while they are here for these big events, which is why thirty-nine representatives are visiting Fossil within a single week.

Scheduling thirty-nine visits within one week is challenging, but Mrs. Nye, the secretary in the Career Center, knows how to stagger times and places so that everything runs smoothly. Reps will be speaking in the Career Center, Roundhouse, Front Office Conference Room, and open classrooms, sometimes only thirty minutes apart. If students cannot make it to one of the meetings, the college fair at Poudre is free and open to everyone, and over 180 colleges will be there. To register for the fair students can go to www.gotocollegefairs.com Even if a student knows where they want to go to school, reps are helpful in answering questions about campus life, scholarship opportunities, and anything else students want to know about a college.

The college visits for October 5-9 are:
