Sabercat Softball at State ends in heartbreak

[slideshow_deploy id=’11230′]

Day two of the state softball tournament ended with the Sabercat ladies losing 11-13 against Pomona in the eighth inning. The Cats took the lead in the first inning bringing in two run for a score of 2-0. There were a few errors in the second inning and the game tied up at 2-2. Pomona pulled ahead to a 2-7 lead, but Sam Shuweihat hit a grand slam to bring the score back 7-5 in the sixth inning after Grace Philop hit a double to score a run. Pomona tied it up in the seventh inning at 7-7. In the eighth inning Pomona fought and scored six runs gaining a 7-13 lead over Fossil. With the bases loaded, Fossil brought in four runs on four different hits bringing the game to a close 11-13. The energy was high, but with two outs already, the Sabercats couldn’t pull it off.

This is the fourth time in four years the Cats have made it to the state tournament and they have made three-straight semi-finals. It was a bitter-sweet end to the season.

This article gave the reader a good picture of the semi-final state game, and the pictures were really good! Occasionally, it was a little hard to follow all the score changes. Also, considering the emotional impact of playing in the semi-final game for the third year in a row and losing, it would be nice to see quotes about the player’s feelings. Otherwise, great job!

This article did a good job of giving an over view of the entire game. Having the score in there was very informative and helps the reader follow along. The article also included good details like the players names and what they did to help the game. Great Pictures as well! If anything the article could have benefited from a player/coach interview.
