Fossil’s marching band goes to State

On Friday October 28th, the Fossil Ridge High School Marching Band and Color Guard took a bus to the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. The band competed at the Colorado Marching Band State Competition on Saturday on the 29th. The band placed second in their division. The band is in the 5A division and were competing against eight other schools. Fossil Ridge competed with many schools across Colorado including Legacy, Cherry Creek, and Fairview. Legacy won first place, making it two years in a row that Legacy has edged Fossil for the top spot at State.

The band has been practicing for months. In August, the Marching Band and Color Guard practiced Monday through Saturday for three weeks, eight hours everyday. They have been practicing for their big production of the year called ‘Luminescence.’ Their first performance was at varsity football game against Poudre. Their second place at Regionals is what lead them to competing at State. The Marching Band and Color Guard maintained their recent success, finishing second at State in consecutive years following two State Championships.
