Every year, the City of Fort Collins holds an event called Kites in the Park, which encourages families and individuals living in the area to gather at Spring Canyon Park, and design and fly kites. This event brings multiple cultures together, and provides children and adults the opportunity to interact with others, in an active and healthy way. In the previous few years, local vendors have gotten involved, bringing a variety of lunch options to choose from as the day progresses.
This year, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) members at Fossil will be donating 400 plus kites to the event. After months of organized and prepared construction dates, members of FBLA are getting ready to add the finishing details to the kites that the children and adults will use this April.
After an interview with Fossil Ridge FBLA President Neil Rowen, he said, “I believe that getting involved in community service is huge for young adults, and more so, students. It provides a great growth opportunity for those individuals in regards to communication, organization, and planning. Our club here at Fossil, and our Community Service Co-Chairs Zoe Bartel and Emily Brey, as well as the rest of the Leadership class, have put in many hours of personal and school time constructing and planning for the event this spring. I am excited for the day to come, we’ve all put in a lot of work into this project.”
If you are interested in participating and getting involved in this event, contact Karen Seeton (FBLA/NTHS Advisor). Everyone is encouraged and welcomed to join this spring in construction sessions as well as the event, for a fun day of interaction and outdoor activity.
