Excited or Nervous? Class of 2021 tours Fossil

Anticipation only builds as a person reaches the end of middle school.  What will high school be like? What if I get lost? How am I supposed to go to school with guys with beards?! On Thursday and Friday, February 16 and 17, the class of 2021 was thinking just that as they toured the halls of Fossil Ridge High School for the first time.

The eighth graders chattered amongst themselves with excitement and fear as they learned about what high school entails. Mr. Allen spoke about what it means to be a Sabercat in, “the best high school in the state,” Mr. Peterson and Ms. Alvarado explained the logistics of navigating the transition from middle school to high school. “I think the dominant emotion that people experience is anxiety. There’s an anxiety about what’s unfamiliar, rumors they’ve heard, growing up. The aim of the transition day is to inform and get students excited,” commented Mr. Peterson.

Eighth graders were asked about their feelings as they began the transition into Fossil. Here’s what they had to say:
