Rumors dispelled about Allens leave

Rumors dispelled about Allen’s leave

By Karen Manley and Isabella Mahal

On Monday, April 17, Fossil Ridge High School principal Will Allen was placed on administrative leave. Tuesday morning, staff was notified of his leave in a meeting, and Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Schools in Poudre School District Scott Nielsen sent an email to parents and students explaining that “details regarding this issue are confidential”. Julie Chaplain, an assistant principal at Fossil, is acting in Allen’s stead.

Rumors began to fly almost immediately after the news reached the public, so PSD dispelled them in a second email to parents and staff on Wednesday. Though it withheld any specific reasons for the administrative leave, the email maintained that the confidentiality was for “personnel matters”. It also added that “the issues in question do not involve inappropriate behavior or improper interactions with students.”

Students should be aware that any social media postings or spreading of rumors is considered libel by law. A few students have already been called into the deans’ offices, because these rumors can be potentially damaging to the reputation and career of another individual.

I like this because it clears up all the rumors and it gives a correct and true statement.
