Cheap Trick, a band recently inducted in the rock and roll hall of fame, has made another appearance, this time in the form of a new album released on April 1 called

Bang, Zoom, Crazy…Hello. Much heavier than their more recent releases, critics have compared this album to their older records that is sure to please long time fans. However, the album is extremely diverse in its sound as it goes from bright and cheerful to darker and heavier. Despite Cheap Trick’s classification as pop, they are able to produce a song in almost any genre.

Featuring singles such as “No Direction Home” and “When I Wake Up Tomorrow”, the album comes to life and never ceases to bore the listener. The intensity of some songs and the lack of intensity will definitely will hook listeners and fans of many genres. The band still hasn’t lost their upbeat and slightly goofy tone since their formation in 1974. Having influenced many groups such as Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, Weezer, Green Day, and even Slipknot, this group has done something for everyone.

My favorite song on the album is “Long Time No See Ya”. The upbeat hard rocking sound is capturing and fun. The track never ceases to entertain me and the song has a catchy chorus, accompanied by a wicked guitar riff from Rick Nielsen. One of the top rated songs on the album, adored by critics and fans alike, this song is one of the highlights.

“No Direction Home” is the first single on the album and possibly one of the best songs. With a classic Cheap Trick sound mixed with a heavier tone, “No Direction Home” is a blast to listen to. The track has a catchy chorus and a great bass line, adding to the song’s hard rock sound.

“Blood Red Lips” is a fun upbeat track making it one of the most unique songs on the album. It is catchy and upbeat accompanied with a great guitar riff. The song itself is a little repetitive and drags on, but over all is a great song. It took me a while to learn to like this song, but overall, “Blood Red Lips” is an unforgettable track adding to the overall fun of the album.

The influence of the band has expanded so much that they have been inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame on April 8, thus expanding their legacy and influence. There is no other group quite like Cheap Trick and there never will be a band as legendary as this group of hard rockers.
