The week of November 7 on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 10-13), the Fossil Ridge Marching Band held a fundraiser at the Blue Moose Art Studio to help them raise money to pay for the beautiful new uniforms they received during the State competition this year. The Blue Moose is off of College and has only been open for a little over a month. One of the three owners is the grandmother of Fossil Ridge senior, Jake Grillo. She and a few of her art friends kicked off the uniform fundraiser about a year ago at her house and raised $1000.

A year later the new studio has opened and it had everything from jewelry to beautiful paintings. There are nearly 70 artists represented in the studio and some of the artists have made Fossil- specific necklaces complete with school colors. Part of all of the proceeds are going to help pay for the uniforms. The goal is $120,000 and they only have about $12,000 left to go.

The four day event included refreshments and live performances from some of the band members. The whole event was organized by Julie Grillo. She and some of the other band moms put this fundraiser together. According to Grillo, “That’s why we wanted to do this right away because they took second in state, and they were so excited about the uniforms so we thought we’d help pay it off.” Proceeds will continue to go toward the marching band through November 18.
