Fossil cheer team makes school history

December 9th and 10th, Fossil Rides cheer team competed at the Denver Coliseum for the varsity state. Friday morning, Fossil left for the competition to complete their goal of making it to finals which required them to make top six. Fortunately, Fossil made it to the finals and were preparing themselves to compete Saturday in state.

The Sabercats arrived to Denver around 12 am but did show their routine till 8pm. They prepared by doing many different stunts and going over their routine multiple times. There were several teams competing at state, but Fossil only preformed with the 5A group. “The competition was so nerve wracking. This was the most nervous the team has every felt but we were all really excited to be there.” Izzy Yeagar.

Once fossil preformed for the judges they waited till the results were ready. Fossil made a new school record by placing 5th in state for the 5A division. All the hard work and time payed off because now they are on their way to nationals.

The team will continue to practice for nationals and cheer at sport events for most of the year. Nationals is held in Florida, make sure to wish the team good luck.
