Fossil Ridge High School started it’s week off with a home game win against Poudre High School after losing their undefeated streak over the weekend. Two days later Fossil lost once again to their biggest rival, Rocky Mountain High School on Thursday, September 21. Numerous girls on the team said it was one of the worst games they have ever played.

Rocky and Fossil both stepped onto the court pumped for one of the biggest games of both of their seasons. Fossil kept up with Rocky because of their strong defensive line and blocking skills but were soon overpowered by the Lobos. The Sabercats played strong but Rocky’s offensive line was too good and Fossil was unable to keep up. The Sabercats lost the first set 17-25.

The second set played difficult for Fossil as they only scored five of their own points, the rest awarded to them due to errors or fouls on Rocky’s behalf. The Lobos dominated the court and won the set, 11-25.

Finally, the third set came and seemed to last the longest. The Sabercats only scored four of their own points, although they finished the set with 18. Rocky’s mistakes scored fifteen points for Fossil. However the Lobos were too good once again and won the game. The Sabercats finished the set 18-25, now their fourth loss of the season.

The girls play at home next week against Horizon High School on Tuesday, September 26. The game will start at 6:30 PM, make sure you come out and support the volleyball team. Good luck Sabercats.
