Letter of Recommendation: Photo Club
At Fossil Ridge High School, we have a club called Photo Club. It is facilitated by president Olivia Doro and is about photography and how you can use it to your advantage. I decided to go to this club and see the whole dynamic and how it’s run. Photo club is run every Thursday from 3-4 pm.
When I went to the club, a member of the club came up and presented information about DSLRs (digital single-lens reflex), &, more specifically, the sports mode of the cameras. The sports mode makes the shutter speed of the cameras very fast – this means the camera takes in a very small amount of light and then in turn makes a very clear image. This way, you can get action shots of people or objects in motion. The club got a couple DSLR cameras and went out to test with the sports mode. We picked up leaves in our hands and threw them up, and took pictures where the leaves were falling in front of you. This mode is important in Journalism because one of the main types of Journalists are sports Journalists. There are many different types of sports and they are mostly going year-round, so they are very good subjects to cover because you can find a sports game anytime.
Photo Club is a very fun time and an awesome family. If you are available any Thursday after school, I would definitely give the club a chance.
