January 23, the Fossil Ridge High School Junior Varsity girls basketball played host against Broomfield High School. It was the 14 game of the season for them.

In the first quarter there was a lot of scoring. The only thing was it was for Fossil. Fossil dominated in every category especially offensive rebounds. The best shooter was number 23,Allison Osthoff. She had five points to end the first quarter helping Fossil to an early advantage fourteen to two over Broomfield.

In the second quarter it was much of the same. Fossil was having extra possessions, stealing the ball, playing great defense, and making tough contested shots. There was a new leader in scoring and it was number 21, Lauren Kleine. She led the second quarter with four points and Fossil took a demanding lead into halftime with a score of 25-7 in favor of Fossil.

In the third quarter Broomfield started to take over the game. They were gettin all the rebounds and playing strong defense. Fossil hung tuff and with the help of the leader, 32, Jazi Barela. Fossil took a smaller lead into the fourth quarter leading 31-15.

In the fourth quarter Broomfield tried to make a comeback but it was to late. Number 24, Lauren Traylor helped get the game in the books and out of the way. With three minutes left in the game, Broomfield got the lead down to twelve but never got any closer. Fossil fought the game hard and secured a victory on the homecourt.  Both teams put their bench players in at the final minute and finished of the game. Fossil won the game 45-32.

As the games start to click away for Broomfield, Fossil was finally able to put the game away and give their starters a rest. Fossil got a victory on their home court with all the fans cheering and supporting the team on. The team has a lot to be happy about and things to work on in these final games of the season. Fossil will hope to go further in the season to try and make it to the state playoffs and to win the championship.
