Sasha Chappell

Sasha Chappell, senior, is entering his first year on the Etched in Stone staff. As a new journalist, he hopes to bring different ideas to the team regarding orchestra and the vast world of classical music.

Outside of Etched in Stone, Chappell is a cellist involved with the Fossil Ridge High School symphony orchestra, chamber groups, and solo performances. He also works as a soccer referee, swims for Fossil, and is an active member of multiple national honor societies. He can probably be found either playing cello or doing homework, as socializing is not one of his strong suits. He loves playing classical works, specifically Cello Concertos from Edward Elgar’s and Dmitri Shostakovich, orchestral works such as Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings and Janacek’s Idyll, and hip hop music from artists such as Eminem. He is also a huge Marvel fan, having watched every movie about ten times as well as watching all the Netflix TV series, and his favorite Marvel character is Deadpool.

After high school, Sasha will be studying music performance and biomedical sciences at Colorado State University. “I did not want to spend a lot of money for my undergraduate degree, and because CSU has great science and music programs, I think it has the best options for me in college,”  said Sasha. He plans on continuing soccer refereeing through college as well as working in a protein crystallography lab he has been in for two years. He is undecided as to what he wants to do in the future, debating between playing the cello or going into medicine as a doctor.
