Fossil Ridge High School’s Student Council held a retreat February 3 and 4, where members of the Fossil community enjoyed activities to bond and learn more about each other. The weekend in Estes Park included discussions, games out on a frozen lake, team building activities, and time with family groups.

The group was able to bond through sharing personal experiences and special messages from leaders. Amita Pandey, a senior, thought, “it showed us different viewpoints of life. I feel like we were able to know people on a deeper level and that brought us closer and made us stronger.” Another part Pandey found meaningful were letters everyone received from their parents. “It was super sweet to get those letters and to hear our parent’s voice in a way that they might not talk to you in.”

A unique aspect of the retreat were family groups, where six members and a senior leader were paired together upon arrival. They spent a lot of time together throughout the retreat, and were able to get to know each other well. By the end of their time together, they were just as their groups described them as – family.

I think from these experiences and emotional moments, we grew tighter as a group.

This annual weekend was one to remember. Moving forward, the group is closer and will take what they learned about each other with them.
