Tenth Bass performs “This Christmas”

Fossil Ridge High School’s Choir program held their second concert of the year on December 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. All six choirs performed a variety of holiday-themed songs and were directed by John Garner and Bri McCormick. Pianist Anneke Toomey accompanied the student singers on a lot of the songs.. The order was the Sabercat Singers, Women’s Choir, Chamber Choir, Vox Femina, Men’s Choir, and to finish it off, Tenth Bass. The whole stage was decked out in holiday decorations, including ribbon, bows, snowflakes, and much more.

Sabercat Singers started off the night with “Lo How a Rose/The Rose” arranged by Craig Hella Johnson, “In The Bleak Midwinter” by Gustav Holst, “The Rose” by Ola Gjeilo, and “In Dulci Jubilo” by Matthew Culloton. Continuing, Women’s Choir performed “Noël Nouvelet” by John Floyd Campbell with student Sophia Marshall playing oboe, “I Saw Three Ships” arranged by Edward Henderson, and “Lunar Lullaby” by Jacob Narverud. Chamber Choir sang “Personent Hodie” arranged by Philip Kern, “O Magnum Mysterium” by Morten Lauridsen, and “My Lord Has Come” by Will Todd. Vox Femina performed “Ndikhokhele Bawo” by Mzwandile Mabuza with student Nikky Haabestad playing djembe, “Cradle Hymn” by Kim Andre Arnesen, “The Snow” by Edward Elgar with seniors Amy Koo and Esther Jeong playing violin, “This Little Babe” by Benjamin Britten, and “While Shepherds Watched their Flocks” by Craig Courtney. Men’s Choir sang “Stand Tall, O Man!” by Ken Berg, “Brightest and Best” by Shawn Kirchner, “Ave Maria” by Johann Arcadelt, and “Joshua Fit De Battle Of Jericho” by Jeffery Ames. To finish off the night, Tenth Bass performed “This Christmas” arranged by Fossil student Blake Rouse, “Man with the Bag” originally performed by Kay Starr, “Impossible Year” originally performed by Panic! at the Disco, “Winter Song” originally performed by Sara Bareilles, and “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” arranged by Andrew John Kim.

Also announced at the concert were the students that made All-State Choir. Those students are Megan Bean, Megan Blad, Ryan Cleverly, Maria Cuddemi, Lucas Feuer, Kira Francom, Austin Hand, Kira Johansen, Mabry Keil, Amy Koo, Jonathan Lu, Luke Marshall, Tony Nielsen, and Claire Silk.

Congratulations to everyone that made All-State and good job to every student that performed at the concert.
