Smriti Maskey and Payton Lee

Smriti:

Who is your significant other?

-Payton Lee

How did you meet?

-We met freshman year through mutual friends during lunch. We bonded over music because he would always wear band tees.

How long have you been together?

-We started dating sophomore year- October 19, 2016 on the night of the bonfire. It’s been a little more than 2 years.

What do you like most about your significant other?

-My favorite thing about Payton is how annoyingly passionate he is about literally everything. Animals, music, memes, politics, literally anything if he’s curious about it.

What makes your relationship unique?

-This is gonna sound lame, but I think what makes us unique is that we’re an interracial couple.

What do you think about the concept of love?

-Love is great, but it always takes a lot of effort and patience whether it be with friends, family, coworkers, significant others, etc. Payton and I take care of each other, and having him as my best friend is the most important thing to me.

Payton:

Who is your significant other?

-Smriti Maskey

How did you meet?

-We met through mutual friends freshman year. We were friends for a year before we started dating.

How long have you been together?

-We’ve been together for about 2.5 years.

What do you like most about your significant other?

-I like that she’s so optimistic and she sees the best in people. It sort of balances out my, err, realism.

What makes your relationship unique?

-We have somewhat opposing personalities, I don’t know how common that is in terms of getting along. We’re also interracial and we’re both vegetarians.

What do you think about the concept of love?

-Love is just like friendship, but you want to see love interests more than your friends. I don’t really know, I just sort of go along with this whole existence thing.
