Etched in Stone

Melissa May

Melissa May is a sophomore this year and is very optimistic about what the year has in store for her. She enjoys Journalism and is part of the Arts Beat within Etched in Stone. May loves to write about the arts, different activities and clubs in the school, and the people that make up the Fossil Ridge High School community.

Outside of school, she loves to play soccer and, after not playing last year, she hopes to continue playing this year. Originally, May is not from Colorado. She lived in Plantation, Florida and attended school in Weston, Florida. She moved to Fort Collins the summer before her freshman year, and began attending Fossil. She says she is “proud of [her] hometown and loved the mesh of cultures in and around Miami.”  She is a fun-loving girl who enjoys listening to music, though she does not play any instruments. She says she mainly listens to pop, hip-hop, and alternative music, and loves attending concerts.

At home, May lives with her mom and dad, and her older brother, Greg, is in his sophomore year at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. She loves being around her three dogs, Lady, Buddy, and Minnie, and considers herself a huge dog person. May adores spending time with her family and her friends, and says she “will never pass up an opportunity to be with the people she loves.”
