Fossil has captivating race at Liberty Bell

Friday the 11th was a big day for the Fossil Ridge Cross Country team. They  went to compete in the “Liberty Bell” invitational. There was much competition for the cross country cats. Some of the common opponents were from Monarch, Boulder, Smoky Hill, Horizon and Grandview.

Individually, The boy’s individually had an overall good day at the invitational, and even had a top ten  finisher. Senior runner Keaton Schelir finished in eighth place in the 5000 meter run  with his right hand men Dylan Ko and Jackson Powell finishing 20th and 29th respectively. There was plenty of competition throughout the boy’s first division from Monarch and Arapahoe.

The lady cats certainly had a different outcome. The girls were not able to break a top 40 finish. Sydney Teslow had the best finish for FRHS and she came in at 43rd place. Some other notable finishers were Ellie Ewer (52nd), Kate Lammons (54th), and Kate Leatherman (58th). “We didn’t get anywhere where we needed and wanted to. None of us had good races this week, and we expect great finishes in the next couple weeks.” Said senior runner, Kate Leatherman.
