PSD Fire field hockey nearing the end of their season

The PSD Fire field hockey team, coming into the past two games at Regis Jesuit on Saturday and at home against Smoky Hill on Monday have not had the season they had expected to have. Coming into the game on Saturday, the Fire had yet to win a single game this season, despite their satisfying and well-improved  play on the field.

The game at Regis resulted in a disappointment to what was an already beaten down team. Regis Jesuit is known for being one of the better teams in the state, especially against the Fire. PSD was worn out and had no momentum resulting from their last game and were led to yet another confidence-killing loss by a final score of 0-6.

Still aggravated from their previous loss that Saturday, the Fire were ready for action again on Monday, and had some momentum as they were on their home field. Smoky Hill was also known for being a good team, but the Fire had tempers still aflame from their last game and were prepared for action. The Fire had underestimated their low confidence, and were no match against Smoky Hill as they gained yet another loss, 0-5. Despite the disappointing last 2 games, they “played really well and put up a good fight, as well as got good shots on goal” (Mallory Kellum).
