Reagan Kissel, took a hip hop class once when she was younger. She states “It was clearly not my forte.” After realizing dance was not her area of expertise she switched to art. This is where she found her passion. “My mom is very creative, so I’ve been surrounded by art ever since I was little. She always had me drawing little pictures of everything around me. I fell in love with it in elementary school. I actually was in an art enrichment program so I chose to go to school early to work on art projects with other kids.” The main artistic influence in her life has been her mom. “My mom is very creative, so I’ve been surrounded by art ever since I was little. She always had me drawing little pictures of everything around me. I fell in love with it in elementary school!”

Besides art club Reagan is involved in NHS and NAHS. Her hobbies include hiking, reading and painting. She loves hiking because, as she puts it “It always challenges me physically and mentally. It gives me time to think, but always provides great conversation with other people. And the views at the top are just the icing on the cake.” Hoping to major in psychology and minor in art with the hopes of being a therapist. She dreams of starting an orphanage in a third world country after college and pursue her dreams of traveling. Visiting New Zealand is the first stop on her list. She says her dream is to “See the world. I’ve lived in Fort Collins for my whole life, so I’m ready to expand my horizons.”

Her family is “a hilarious mess of a support system.” He grandpa has inspired her through all her endeavors, “he is so selfless and has led by example when it comes to loving his family. He is always willing to spend time with me, and goes out of his way to do so. He’s also one of the funniest men I’ve met. He’s in his seventies and still runs to play volleyball with us grandkids. I hope to have his zest for life when I’m his age.” Besides her family, her friends help her in all areas of her life. Her friend Shelby is who Reagan identifies as the most supportive. “She has the biggest heart and is so generous with her time. She’s been a really great mentor to me throughout the years. Always ready to listen over coffee, she supports me unconditionally. It’s clear she loves life and loves those in it. She’s inspired me see the best in others, and has helped me realize that you should never take life, or yourself, too seriously.”

Reagan, is a caring individual who no matter which corner of the world she is in, will shine. From her artistic talent, to her want to help others, Reagan is a senior going far in life, no matter where she goes, or what she does.
