Coming off of a road win against Highlands Ranch earlier in the week, Fossil Ridge basketball looked dull against a 4A stand out team. Lewis Palmer is currently ranked number 2 in the 4A AP poll, and last night their shots fell making the difference.

Losing by 20 to 30 points throughout most of the second half, tensions grew and the team couldn’t work past it. The final score was 56-80.

“It was ugly,” said Colby Ripsam, senior post. “Everyone has off games.”

Last nights struggles were rooted in turn overs. The Sabercats didn’t look like themselves, giving the ball away easily, and not hitting shots that typically fall for them.

Standout junior, Braxton Bertolette, leads the team averaging an impressive 27.3 points per game. He is one of the most skilled shooters in the state, and last night he had his worst shooting game of the season thus far. His talent is undeniable, but that attests to the statement “Everyone has off games.”

On the other hand, Lewis Palmer had their best shooting game of the year by far.

It was apparent that the chemistry wasn’t there last night, but that is a typical occurrence for teams this early on in the season.  The team will look to redeem themselves on the road when they travel Las Vegas, Nevada next week to compete in the Tarkanian Classic tournament.
