Sad end to playoff run for the Sabercats

After a solid performance throughout their regular season, the Fossil Ridge girls Varsity team lost to Arapahoe in their first playoff game with a final score of 45-42.

The Sabercats came out struggling, giving up 3 steals within the first quarter of the game. Having a hard time getting the ball past half, Arapahoe put away 2 3-point shots, as well as executing their plays with ease.

The rest of the first half continued in favor of Arapahoe, score sitting at 14-11. It was a close game the entire time, but the Cats weren’t racking up enough points on the scoreboard.

Fossil’s offense picked up in the third quarter as well as a bit of the fourth. Sami Steffeck putting away her shots, as well as Wess hitting 2 3-point shots. Ashley Steffeck played hard defense and had a huge block late in the game, getting the ball back in the Cats hands.

The third quarter ended with Arapahoe leading 34-27, but Fossil hadn’t given up. The Cats fought it out to the final whistle, in a valiant effort to continue their playoff run.

Unfortunately, Fossil struggled with hitting the net, and the Warriors put away 4/4 free throws late in the fourth quarter. Arapahoe walked away with the win, and now Fossil is out of playoffs after a very sucessfull season.
