Fossil Ridge High School’s Senior Knowledge Bowl Team received first in 5A at the State Competition on Mar 15. They have earned the Governors Cup with a score of 224 points after completing a two-day event of testing, in a spectrum of topics.
A team of all Seniors represented Fossil Ridge at the Knowledge Bowl tournament hosted by Colorado State University. The academic competition comprised of a series of oral and written tests covered multiple subjects related to history, world, and more. Fossil’s team has prepared extensively since the beginning of the school year and more in order to be well versed in a multitude of areas.
Steven Hsu, Knowledge Bowl Team Captain stated, “It’s very exciting for us to see all our hard work for the past four years have paid off. It’s our last year together, and it’s a good way to cap it off.” Many team members expressed bittersweet emotions when acknowledging this year’s competition as their last.
It was a proud moment for the Sabercats to have beaten long-standing rivals. “The competition was very challenging, but we were able to beat our esteemed competitors,” said Clifton Sutherland. Knowledge Bowl’s Advisor, Martha Cranor is greatly thanked for well preparing her students. “We would not have won, if it wasn’t for Mrs. Cranor’s coaching and all our knowledge Bowl members’ support,” claimed Hsu.
Jonathan Mullins stated, “We would like to give a huge thanks to everyone who came to supported us and especially Mrs. Cranor.”
