Emily Boyington, born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, is a junior at Fossil Ridge High School with a broad variety of plans for her future. She moved to Virginia when she was just two years old and lived there until she was eleven. After living there for nine years, Boyington and her family moved out to Colorado. She attended Preston Middle School and then transitioned to Fossil for freshman year. Her current interests include makeup and trying new styles with makeup, as well as beauty in general. “As important as it is to embrace your natural beauty, I think it’s so cool to transform yourself and I’m so inspired by the beauty world as it grows and I’m glad I’ve discovered so many inspiring women and men to look up to in that industry,” said Boyington.

Following her high school career, Boyington plans on taking a gap semester or year to travel and experience new opportunities and places while volunteering. Following the gap, she wants to go to North or South Carolina for college to get back to her roots in the east. “I grew up on the east coast and want to go back as soon as possible. Right now, the careers I’m really considering are journalism or teaching.”

Boyington enjoys both of those subjects immensely. Currently, she is enrolled in the Teacher Cadet class, which has given her new insight to what teaching is like. “Right now I’m student teaching at Kinard Middle School and I’m loving it.” Through this class Boyington has learned what it is like to teach and how it is more than just standing up and presenting. “I’m teaching sixth through eighth grade this year and I’m also taking Teacher Cadet 2 next year, where I’ll have field experience the entire year instead of a semester like this year. I’ll be teaching K-2nd grade which I think is what I would want to teach if I did become a teacher.” Boyington finds happiness in teaching and providing information to people. “I want to give students the amazing experience that I was provided with from my teachers, it’s so fulfilling and they make my days so amazing.”

Aside from teaching, Boyington is also thinking about becoming a journalist. “My dream job is to be a news anchor for E! News. It would combine two things I love, which are journalism and writing and pop culture.” She enjoys journalistic writing and is set to take Journalism next year for the first year version of the class. Boyington also has an idea of which school she might go to if journalism is what she wants to do. “University of South Carolina has an amazing journalism department which would be amazing if I could study something I love in a place that I really love.” This school would combine the place she wants to go with the career she wants to do.

Boyington is also interested in a third career that she finds to be a more unexpected one. “I’m interested in investigation and criminal stuff, which you wouldn’t expect, but I just find it so intriguing.” She plans on taking more classes in college to see if this would be a potential area for her to go and advance in.
