Science Olympiad has near sweep at state competition

On Saturday, April 16, Fossil Ridge High School’s Science Olympiad team won the Colorado State competition. All of Fossil’s teams that competed, named the black, green, and silver teams, placed first, third, and fourth, respectively. The team has made a comeback after a disappointing loss to Poudre High School in the 2015 competition, which prohibited them from making a two-peat after their State win in 2014. Fossil Members from each team placed first, second, and third in both the Forensics and Fossils events.

The individual scores are as follows:

Fossil’s top team will be traveling to the Nationals competition in Menomonie, Wisconsin from May 20-21. This proves a conflict for many seniors on the team, as May 21 is when the Fossil graduation ceremony will take place, though Science Olympiad participants are excited to compete at an even higher level than what they have already achieved.
