The Rock n Roll hall of fame is a way to show off accomplished artists. This year’s inductees have many people saying “finally”, and with all of those being inducted, it seems to be more of an accomplishment in life than anything else; the fact that someone’s music has touched the hearts of millions. Those who are being inducted this year includes Cheap Trick, Deep Purple, Steve Miller, Chicago, N.W.A., and Bert Berns, each one with their own story and each taking an honor in the hall of fame.
There is a sense of pride for every band, artist, and producer to be inducted into the Rock n Roll hall of fame. Cheap Trick, a popular punk rock band in the eighties, with their own style they walk into the hall of fame, with hits like “I want you to want me” and “Southern girls”. They’ve created song that are memorable to countless fans. They have help created a new look for punk rock, with their own weird sense in fashion. Cheap trick has become a global sensation, they are often considered the ‘American Beatles’ in Japan.
Cheap Trick isn’t the only one to receive the honor of being inducted, Deep Purple is being inducted in as well. An English 1970s rock band with probably one of the most famous guitar riffs of all time from “Smoke on the water”.. They have been eligible for the Rock n Roll hall of fame since 1993,they were put up as nominations from the counsel who inducts members, now they have a place there. Deep purple have been fan favorites every year they have been put up for nomination, now they were one of the top choices to be inducted in.
Steve Miller, another big add to the hall of fame, is well known for his work with the Steve Miller Band,with numerous hit songs. He has also worked with Fenders Kids Rock Free program in Corona, California. He helped the arts quite a bit, by doing many concerts in name of funding money for the arts. Miller’s work is known and appreciated by all who care to listen or help out. For Miller the 1980’s were some of the major years for his solo career. He released several solo albums, and some blues albums, all showcasing his skill on the guitar.
Chicago, a big band filled with talent, lyrics and songs that people still enjoy on a daily basis, they have created songs that are memorable, songs to slow dance to, songs to rock out to, and songs to keep forever. “Does anybody know what time it is? Does anybody really care?” A popular lyric among music junkies, when asking for time, or if they can care less if they are late. Chicago is a band that inspired many other to do their thing. Classic lyrics and chords used to create this band and bring them to the rock hall of fame.
An early hip hop group is also added into the mix, N.W.A., a group that has pioneered its way to get hip hop and rap to where it is today. You may know them from the hit movie “Straight outta Compton”, which was also the title for their first album. They are a group from the compton area, but worked hard to make hits in the music industry. Numerous fans of rap consider them to be game changers for all music, and the way that they changed modern rap.
Bert Berns, a songwriter and music producer in the 1960s, whom passed at the age of 38 in 1967. He helped write and produce for the Beatles and Van Morrison. In a way, he shaped the sound of many bands and left a legacy by helping produce lyrics that will last generations. “Brown Eyed Girl” and “Twist and Shout” are songs people young and old know by heart. He impacted the music industry by creating lyrics that make people want to dance to and have fun with.
It’s hard to imagine modern music without all the people who inspired others; even those behind the scenes have a place in the hearts of many, even if you personally haven’t heard of them. Every band and artist has a story, and those who reach the hearts of many might just earn themselves a spot in the Rock n Roll hall of fame.
