Firsts time in school history, Fossil Ridges cheer team has made it to finals at the National Competition
Every year the National cheer competition is held at Disney world in Orlando, Florida. Fossil Ridge High Schools cheerleading team advanced in both divisions for the first time in school history and made two semi-final appearances. Fossil placed sixteenth in semi finals and then moved on to finals. With an advancement to finals in the Game Day category, the Sabercats were first time finalists and received 8th place overall.
The division that the Sabercats advanced in was the Game Day competition. From looking at the guidelines of the competition, the judges evaluate the teams on their ability to lead the crowd, their dance routine, and the skills incorporated into the performance. The judges also look on how signs, flags, and poms are used to get the crowd involved. In the Game Day division each team could earn a maximum of 50 points. Five points of proper game day situation, ten points for proper material used, ten points for crowd effectiveness and leading tools, ten for motion technique and apparel, ten for execution of skill, and five points for over all impression.
