Following a loss against Chaparral High School the Fossil Ridge High School Sabercats redeemed themselves on Thursday, August 30 when they beat Erie High School in a 3-0 set game. The team faced a two tough opponents this week and started the season strong by holding their own against Chaparral and beating Erie to start their season 1-1.

Erie proved to be a difficult opponent for the Sabercats throughout the whole game but in the first set both teams remained within points of each other until the set point. Reaching set point four times before Fossil took the set 33-31, the Tigers proved to be a team to watch throughout the season.

After the close first set Fossil took a lead early on and held it not letting Erie get close to winning again. Senior Mataya Megson was a key player in this set both on defense and offense scoring points with her blocks and spikes. It was Megson who scored the set winning point 25-16 to put the Sabercats up two sets.

Fossil kept up their best game for the third set and showed the Tigers exactly whose court they were playing on. Despite the close first set it was as if the last two sets had given the Sabercats back their confidence. Their teamwork and determination were the key factors that led them to victory taking the set and the game 25-15.

This victory was a needed confidence booster after losing their first game of the season just two days before. Fossil continues to play as a Top 5 team proving just how hard they worked to earn that spot. Next time the Sabercats play is Tuesday, September 11 against Legacy High School at 5:30 P.M.
