Marching Band enlightens Homecoming crowd
Band faces the crowd
The Fossil Ridge High Schoolband performed Friday, September 14, accompanied by the Color Guard. After Mr. Berard’s departure in May, Mr. Ferris and Mrs. Muńoz became the new band directors. For the homecoming performance, the band performed the theme “Enlightenment”. The first part of their show conveys the story of evolution in knowledge and collecting new ideas. Conflict between mankind arises in the second part, but eventually finishes out on a good note, where men are becoming smarter and more inventive, yet figuring out a way to work together. Junior Ryan Cleverly believed the band did very well. “It was the first time we had performed in public and we did really well. We still have work to do but we are starting off in a good place,” said Cleverly. Alanna Jones, also a junior, agreed with Cleverly, saying, “I think it went really well. This was our first time performing in a crowd that wasn’t our parents, and it all came together.”Cleverly also said,“The main goal of this year is to have a successful competition season but also finish the season with no regrets and know that we gave it our all.” If the band isn’t on the field, they are in the stands cheering on their fellow Sabercats, with their rendition of Fall Out Boy’s “My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark.” Although the Winter band performances don’t begin until December, be sure to listen and support your peers at the upcoming football games.
