Barack Obama was re-elected as the 44thpresident of the United States Tuesday.  He won 332 electoral votes, while GOP candidate Mitt Romney won 206.  270 electoral votes are needed to win the presidency.

What helped President Obama win was most of the swing states.  These states included New Hampshire, Virginia, Florida, Ohio, Iowa, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Colorado. Ohio and Florida perhaps were the most important of these states for the two candidates, due to their number of electoral votes.  As the night went on, Obama won more and more of these states until he won the election.

Mitt Romney gave his concession speech in Boston at 1 A.M.  President Obama gave his victory speech shortly after that in Chicago.
