The Fossil Ridge High School junior varsity basketball team defeated the Rocky Mountain High School Lobos 54-38, leading in points for most of the game.

The Sabercats showed great defense and sportsmanship throughout the whole game, even when things got rough. With a new focus on defense, players like Donovan Banek and Lucas Hissrich shined on the court, using every opportunity they could to lead their team to victory.

While the whole team shined, one player, Drew McMillan, showed true leadership on the court.

“We knew it was going to be a dogfight. You know, we play against them a lot, but we know they’re a good team. We just kept our composure and just stuck to our teammates and our stuff.”

The team seems to have a tight-knit bond with each other. They treat their teammates with respect and talk highly of each other.

“It’s awesome. I love all my teammates. I just love playing with them. They’re a great group to play with,” McMillan says.

The Sabercats’ next game is January 18 against Monarch High School.
