Fossil Ridge High School boys’ basketball takes down city rival Rocky

On Jan. 9 the Fossil Ridge High School boys’ basketball team played home against city rival, Rocky Mountain High School. The team won the game 59-41 and improved to 7-2 on the season and they are on a three game winning streak. RMHS now has a losing record of 2-7 after the loss.

The game started out close with neither team gaining an edge. Both teams were tied at 11 points at the end of he first quarter. FRHS then outscored RMHS 21 points to six points in the second quarter and never trailed in the second half for the rest of the game. Alec Quaid led the team with 12 points and Evan Smith and Cody McCoy chipped in with 11 points.

With this win, FRHS moves into fourth place in the state, their highest rank in school history. The team only has 13 games left including games against city rivals, Fort Collins High School and Poudre High School. These will be key games in order to determine their rank going into the state tournament Feb. 27.
