For swimmers throughout Fort Collins, there is one night that stands out on the calendar above the rest. This is of course senior night, which for the Fossil Ridge girls Swim and Dive team was on Monday, January 22.

The Sabercats finished the meet in second, with a total of 525 points and 12 separate event wins. However, this was about so much more than the results. Fossil Ridge honored a total of nine seniors at the event: Emma and Sofia Barker, Jordan Bassett, Sofia Carmosino, Kenadie Glasgow, Ellie Marshall, Bridget McGowen, Sydnee O’Neil, and Bronte Wayne.

Glasgow, one of the Sabercat captains, dominated with event wins in the 100 meter breast, the 200 meter free relay, the 400 meter relay, and a second place finish in the 200 meter individual medley. Everyone showed up and brought their A-game, as this meet draws attention from everyone including coaches, spectators, and of course the athletes.

“It was super fun,” Glasgow says. “Our families were there, and we had a lot of friends that came…it was cool to have everyone there.”

Glasgow is one of the senior captains and leaders of the girls swim team.

Glasgow has been swimming for nearly her entire life, and has committed to swim at the division one level at the University of Miami at Ohio. Her deep connection to the sport made senior night all the more impactful and memorable.

“Swim is a hard sport that not everyone can do very well,” Glasgow says. “Which makes it so cool to recognize all of us who have done the sport, whether it’s their first year or their fourth.”

Fossil has wrapped up their regular season and now switch gears as they prepare for the next month of postseason competition. The team’s next meet will be one half of the conference tournament on Saturday, January 28.

Glasgow hopes to lead the team to a conference title in the Front Range League, one of the most competitive conferences in Colorado.
