Prom is one of the most important events for juniors, seniors, and anybody else invited, leading it to be quite memorable in high school students’ lives. To make it even more incredible, there are themes.
These themes are all based on the decisions of a Prom Committee and a teacher; this year’s being Lauren Grande, who helped with Fossil’s Prom last year as well. She especially had a good experience with both her Proms when she was in high school and hopes to give that to students.
“I think it’s really special and our students should have a say in what that looks like and be excited about it,” says Grande.
The Prom Committee meets repeatedly throughout the year to come together with all their ideas to then put them to a vote. Jennifer Morales and Leslie Merez, seniors part of the Prom Committee, explain how safety is also considered when coming to conclusions with their ideas. This group is also in charge of decor and anything else that makes this night the best experience for students.”I think it was very hard because there were so many different ideas, and they were all good, but also, we have to think about other factors such as, the requirements and like school policies and stuff like that.”Jennifer says.
The Prom theme was announced last week on Ridge TV to be “Old Hollywood”, many students are left wondering what that includes? You can reference any movie, person, or big event in the time periods of the 1920s to the 1950s.
“We could think of Marilyn Monroe, the classic dress she wore and more elegant ideas to these times”, explains Jennifer and Leslie. They hope to give that vintage look through colors throughout the planning.
Lauren Grande also expresses how she sees old Hollywood, “Tuxedos, flowy dresses, pearls, also Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and Marilyn Monroe.”
