Senior Night success leads to another win for the Stars

Three athletes with flags around their shoulders, taking in that their final home game of the season was about to begin. Montana State around Owen Jacobson, Utah State around Ty Morris, and University of Colorado Boulder around Alex Van Thuyne.

“I was hoping for a fun game, it’s our Senior Night, and the opponent was defeatable,” says Van Thuyne.

A fun game they had, sweeping Severance in three sets, walking out with another victory under their belt.

Not only was this the final regular season home match, but Senior Night celebrating all three seniors and a shoutout to two-year team manager, Lucy Corder.

After Fossil made eleven points and Severance only at one Severance called their first timeout of the game. Severance managed to gain a few points back, not completely defeated by the Stars.

“I wish it was a tougher game, but it was still a lot of fun,” setter Morris says.

The main reason Severance was able to gain back points was due to the Stars’ errors, but the seniors stepped in on their night, keeping the lead by a large majority.

The Silver Knights called their second timeout when the Stars led 21-12, but evidently, it was not enough and the Poudre School District finished out the set 25-11.

The Silver Knights managed to get a few more points the second set and lost by nine points, the final score being 25-16.

In the third set, they were able to gain one more point, but were no match for the Stars and lost 17-25.

The Stars are trying to gain their wins in hopes of qualifying for Regionals and eventually State.

“I enjoyed it but the season’s not over, [we] got to go get it at Regionals,” Jacobson says.
