Fossil Ridge High School seniors are sharing their final pieces of advice as the year wraps up.
Keira Liekstow, who’s attending University of California San Diego this fall, describes the importance of taking the special opportunities high school offers.
“Explore everything you’re interested in, and at the end of it all you will find something you’re passionate about,” Liekstow said.
A support system is essential for maximizing the high school experience, she said.
“Fantastic friends will always make your day better,” Liekstow said.
Kaylee Kaup, a future student of University of Colorado Boulder, believes that having good friends can help seniors fight senioritis.
“Enjoy it while you can and have fun with your friends,” Kaup said. “Additionally, senioritis is very real and it’s easy to lose motivation.”
College applications can often become large stressors for seniors. Kaup advises to keep on track with all college applications and other requirements.
“Try to finish things early, so you leave time for the fun of senior year,” Kaup said.
Niyati Kuntumalla, who’s attending CU Boulder this fall, offers some different advice on fully maximizing the last years of high school.
“Take advantage of the fact that you can take any class you want,” Kuntumalla said. “In college you have to pay for classes so taking classes for free in any subject is definitely something to take advantage of.”
Together all the seniors shared a common piece of advice.
“Most of all, have fun, it’s high school,” Kuntumalla said. “You only get to experience it once so have fun while it lasts.”
