Fossil Ridge High School students and teachers arrange a fun night of candy, costumes, and creativity for the community at the annual Trick or Treat Street on October 28.
Fossil decorated doors and rooms to provide a safe and lively space for children to enjoy Halloween early with their families. Over 400 kids came and went with loads of candy and unforgettable memories.

Morgan Driscoll comes with her mother, sister, and niece to meet families and create new bonds in the community. Her favorite part is seeing all of the costumes. “When they’re dressed up, it’s so fun. The creativity these days is insane, and what they come up with is just 100% adorable,” she said. Jenna Long, Ashton Leistikow, Alex McFarlend, and Maddie Holloway have kids fish for candy, and they loved seeing the kids pure excitement when they catch the candy. “There was one little girl who actually thought I was Ariel, which made my day,” said Holloway. “She was so happy, she wanted a picture and everything and I thought, this is why I do this. ” (Brooklyn Brown)
Fossil students Zoie Harding, Ev Martucci, and Mira Maroni gave out bracelets to families. They enjoyed being the face of Fossil and having fun with the kids. “Just having fun and interacting with the community and giving something back to the community, like a safe place for kids to trick or treat, is my favorite part,” Harding said. Members of Fossil’s Choir Council Lucy Tope, Noah Nguyen, Jonah Reyes, and their friend Reese Ratkin enjoyed seeing how creative kids got with their costumes this year. “I love trick or treat because I think it gives an opportunity for all kids to come and have fun and just experience Halloween in a fun, anti-stress environment,” Tope said. Members of Fossil’s Cheer Team, Ava Borino, Siena McQueen, Nicole Ghose, Leila Alwin, Emry Sisneros, and Maddy Ferrin hype up families with cheers and give out candy. They loved creating cheers for the children and seeing their cute costumes. (Brooklyn Brown)
Fossil students Brody Nelson, Felipe Sampaio, Eli Strote, and Micah Nelson loved seeing the kids get excited and getting the opportunity to introduce them to the school. “I like seeing all of the kids get happy when they recognize our costumes when they get candy,” said Micah Nelson. Members of Fossil’s National Art Honors Society partake in this tradition by handing out coloring sheets for kids along with candy. “It’s one of the best traditions at Fossil,” said Kerigan Philavanh, NAHS President. “Kerigan suggested that I should join Trick or Treat Street this year since I’ve never done it before,” said Diego Gallegos Ceja. “And I absolutely loved it, I loved seeing the little kids so happy and eating candy.” (Brooklyn Brown)
Mandy Luckett and her children, Charlotte Luckett, Sarah Luckett, and their little sister, attend Trick or Treat Street for the first time. “They really liked the Taylor Swift table,” said Mandy Luckett. Amberly Mae, Lyla Mae, Savannah Mae, and Sara Mae have gone to Trick or Treat Street for eight years straight. They love how interactive the event is and they love to look at the decorations. Their favorite part is the candy and the games. (Brooklyn Brown)
David Lester returns to Trick or Treat Street for the third year with his friends and family. He believes that it’s an important event because it brings the community together and gives families something memorable to do. “You can see the different clubs and activities that can entice the kids when they get older,” Lester said. Former Fossil Ridge High School teacher Kaitlyn Corcoran, who now teaches at Preston Middle School, attends Trick or Treat Street for the third year. Her favorite part is seeing the students interact with the kids. “It’s always fun to see that community connection and how the high schoolers are just as excited as we are,” she said. When the evening wrapped up, families left Fossil with full bags and hearts. Trick or Treat Street is a safe and joyful Halloween tradition at Fossil that strengthens community bonds. It is the highlight of the season, creating memories that last well beyon d Halloween.
