Breakaway plays earned Fossil Ridge High School’s C-team a dominant win against Loveland High School on Saturday, Aug. 30.
“I don’t think there’s ever an MVP. I think it’s a team effort,” freshman running back Ray Young said.
Tight end and linebacker Jackson Wallin’s breakaway play in the second quarter helped the team come to a 35-14 victory.
“I was ready to go,” Wallin said. “The nerves went away, and I was excited to go.”
Wallin had a fumble recovery in the second quarter while Young had a lot of huge runs and great tackles on defense. Austin Stump had a great punt, sending it into their endzone from 60 yards away in the fourth quarter for a touchback, sealing the deal.

“Ray destroyed the defense and made us get the ball back,” said freshman OL/DL KaiKoa Shrinski. “And I think he got the ball back so many times that that made us get a lead.”
Freshman quarterback Dylan Hoff had an outstanding game against Loveland, helping WR Carson Phelps and Young play to their fullest potential. Execution helped the team play to their fullest.
“First half, not so great. Second half, we came out there, beat them,” said Shrinski.
Fossil’s C-Team is looking forward to getting another dominant win against Rock Canyon High School on Saturday.
