Fossil Ridge High School freshman running back Ray Young has potential to go big.
Young has run for 1,105 yards and scored 15 touchdowns already this season throughout his C-team and JV preview.
Young has had more work with the coaches than almost any other player, which has really helped him excel on the field during games.
“I feel like when, when you see him on the field and you compare him to other players, he’s more aware of what he’s doing, and he, like, just knows what to do,” said freshman linebacker Robert Miles.

As long as Young keeps working hard and healthy he will continue to play and get better.
“He’s got to stay, you know, he’s got to stay in the books. He’s got to be injury free. And, you know, just keep learning,” Freshman OL/DL Coach David Bariola said. “Just keep grinding every year.”
If Young plans to go D1, he thinks that he would have to improve and grow.
“Well, obviously I need to get bigger and probably be more physical,” Young said.
The coaches are excited to see what Young can do in years to come.
“He’s just a freshman now, and he’s doing incredible things and you know, and I can’t wait to see him be a part of the journey from him being a sophomore on up,” Bariola said.
With all the extra help from the coaches and some motivation, Young is becoming a better overall player.
“I think the coaches and I have taught him some stuff that he may not have known, but you can easily see that he’s applied what he’s learned through what we have told him, and that’s just what makes him a better player,” Miles said.
