New Fossil Ridge High School business teacher Amber Kline hopes to let students lead the way to their own learning.
“My teaching style is more of a student-led approach, where they are researching their own information and presenting it to us and their ideas,” Kline said, who previously taught at Frontier Academy in Greeley. She holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a master’s in education.
Entering her 12th year of teaching and first year of teaching business, Kline also looks forward to hearing from students’ own thoughts and mindsets.
“I would say it is unique here in a way that there are so many different thoughts. And I would say, the ideas of students are ones that I feel represent the world,” Kline said.
She added that Fossil has a diversity of thoughts, classes, and extracurricular activities for students.
“There is something here for everyone. It’s a safe place for students to not only be themselves or learn something new but take ownership of their learning,” Kline said. “The variety and diversity of thoughts and opportunities for students to learn from, I feel, best represent the world we live in.”
Along with helping students, she also has a passion for seeing students finally understand something.
“I have a strong passion for lifelong learning. And I just, I love being in the classroom when students either get the concept, like, when that light bulb goes off, and then also just witnessing their learning experience and their growth.” Kline said.
She wants to see someone understand a concept, and when they do, that is when she feels fulfilled with her teaching.
Other business teachers, Jamie Menefee and Paula Didero, await seeing Kline teach.
“We look forward to hopefully years to come, and hope that she, you know, enjoys her time here as much as I have,” Menefee said.
Along with that, Didero hopes for Kline to influence the younger generation of students.
“It feels like a very purposeful thing to have the opportunity to affect young lives positively,” Didero said, “and then to also learn from them as well.”
