Fossil volleyball advances to the next round of playoffs

Fossil Ridge volleyball played their first match at the CHSAA 5a Varsity Girls Volleyball State Tournament today. They beat #8 Pine Creek in 3-0 sets. They now advance to the next round and play #4 Legend or #5 Rampart at 2pm on Friday November 14 at the Denver Coliseum.

The Sabercats will rely on the libero Senior Trinity Burchett to carry them through the playoffs. With 251 digs 61 assist and one kill, Burchett is ranked #51 in the state. She has signed to Colorado Mesa as a libero.

Junior Emery Johnson will also be an asset to the team with 210 kills this season and an average kills percentage of 41.6%. Johnson also leads the team with an average of 3.1 kills per set this year. She has committed to the University of Wyoming securing a D1 Scholarship.

As the Sabercats advance to the next round they will play only top 10 teams from here on out. The hope for them is to win the state championship after coming so close last year and losing in the semifinals. Check back here for more information regarding the tournament and post season stats.
