Fossil Ridge boys basketball faced off against crosstown rival Rocky Mountain High School on Tuesday night at Fossil Ridge High School.

Rocky Mountain Lobos, easily overpowering Rocky Mountain with a 68–42 victory and establishing themselves as one of the top teams in the conference. Their high intensity offense and a disciplined, lockdown defense, Fossil Ridge controlled the game from start to finish. The Sabercats outscored the Lobos in every quarter, leaving no doubt about who owned the court.
Rocky went into the matchup hoping to keep the rivalry competitive, but Fossil’s defensive pressure and expert ball knowledge and movement quickly separated the two teams. Fossil forced turnovers, limited their chance opportunities, and converted on offense, building a lead by halftime and extending it throughout the second half.
The season is trending upward for the Sabercats, now winning multiple games in a row now, 20 point lead or more. Tuesday night’s win was another example of Fossil Ridge’s ability to dominate opponents on both ends of the floor.
Sam Jones gave us a take after the game about the team and his execution.
“It felt pretty easy out there,” Jones said. “If I had stayed in longer, I definitely would’ve dropped 30 more. We played our game, and they struggled to match our pace and had a lot of airballs… ”
Multiple players contributed on offense while maintaining defensive intensity. Strong rebounding, quick turn arounds, and consistent shooting all night, especially knocking down Carter Grey allowed the Sabercats to keep control.
