The Gold Key Award is a Scholastic competition that includes works of art from students all over Colorado. Over 70 students won in Colorado out of the 1000 that applied with art of all kinds of medium, including drawing, painting, photography, and more.

One of the students in particular that won the Gold Key award was sophomore Daniel Stroh. Stroh is the only sophomore from FRHS this year to win the Gold Key award for his pen, ink and colored pencil drawing titled “Feeling Sheepish.” His piece also got nominated for an American Vision Award. Only five American Vision Awards are presented each year so it is a prestigious nomination, and he is the only 10th grader to be nominated this year.

Other Gold Key winners include: junior Zach Gormly, and seniors Jonathan Hamilton, Cassie Florentin, and Tess Scarborough. Winners of the Silver Key award include: sophomore Danja Barber, and seniors Courtney Dwyer, Steven Osika, and Hannah Tracy. Honorable mentions include: freshman Lauren Schneider, and seniors Courtney Dwyer, Cassie Florentin, Helen Koetting, Trevor Meckelburg, Taylor Nelson, Steven Osika, and Hannah Tracy.
