FRHS opens farmer’s market

Fossil Ridge High School now has a student initiated farmer’s market which officially opened on Thursday, April 18.  The market will feature fruits, vegetables, and herbs.

Specifically, five students are involved in this project:  Sophomore Emily Anderson (artistic designer), freshman Nathan Pisano (business manager), freshman Anthony Niesent (web designer), senior Chris Summers (creative designer), and freshman Jacob Smith (finances).  Ms. Eberhart and Mr. Brigham are the “bosses,” as Niesent put it in an e-mail to the school’s staff.

“Our goal is to create a successful agricultural business where we can sell start up vegetables, fruits and herbs,  as well as small herb gardens that can be kept inside,” he also stated in the same e-mail.

From banana peppers to pickling cucumbers, a variety of different vegetables are available to be grown.  Seven different types of tomatoes are available as well.  A total of 40 different crops are currently available for order as well as other products, such as herb gardens and plant markers.  Although prices for herb gardens and container gardens are still to be determined, prices for plants are set, with most priced at $2.00, with tomatoes being the exception at $2.50.
