Football team trying to make up lost ground

The Fossil Ridge football team is off to a 0-4 start. The team came into the year with high expectations. They put in the necessary work to make this the year that the Fossil Ridge varsity football team breaks out.

Fossil Ridge senior and running back for the football team, Jake Horner summed up their hard work they have put in. “We went all summer for four hours a day only having Fri-Sun off. We lifted as well as conditioned and practiced.”

The team has put in the work but they can’t seem to be getting the results they desire on the field. “Fossil Ridge senior and wide receiver on the football team, Nigel Tilley said, “we’ve done a lot of good things. We tend to shoot ourselves in the foot.” The team isn’t playing badly but as Tilley said, “we keep making little mistakes that can easily be fixed and we need to be disciplined.”

Fossil Ridge fans also can help contribute to help out the football team. Horner said, “I think they come to football games to socialize instead of supporting the team.” However, the team would love to have as many fans come support them as possible.

Although Fossil Ridge has not started off the way they would like, they aren’t out of the playoffs yet. Horner said they still have a shot at it if they can “take conference.” Fossil Ridge’s next game is at 6 P.M. Oct. 3 at French Field in Fort Collins.
