Topanga’s Editor’s Note: October

Hello SaberCats!

I was prepared to write this editor’s note, but then our staff playlist was blocked on the Poudre School District server! It’s really distracting to write articles without music. I’ve settled for Clean Video Search, but I don’t want to have to choose what songs are playing. The struggle is real.

On to what I meant to write about! This is my favorite time of year. I absolutely love Halloween; it’s my favorite holiday. I love becoming a different person, as well as all of the candy!

I still feel like a kid, so I still trick-or-treat. I live in an area where not too many kids trick-or-treat anyways, so each house just hopes they get one or two people to come. It’s very acceptable there. If you are worried about trick-or-treating in your area, I suggest you take a young kid with you. However, if you don’t try to dress up, you don’t deserve candy.

I really enjoy getting to use my makeup, too. I wear a different costume for each Halloween event I go to so that I can play with different makeup! I finally tried out liquid latex for zombie effects this year. If you’re going for a zombie look, I suggest you try some out. It’s fairly easy to use and you can get some at any of the local Halloween stores around. If you need some more ideas, check out this girl to guy tutorial and the matching guy to girl tutorial, this pop art tutorial, or some of my tutorials from last year. You can make yourself a skeleton, an old lady or man, a fairy, or a vampire.

This Halloween, let out your inner kid! Dress up and trick-or-treat. Etched In Stone is even having a costume contest. I encourage you to enter. The staff will be taking pictures at school as well to enter for you. Have a happy Halloween!
