At Fossil Ridge High School lot of you are asking the question who is Coach Tinker?

Tinker was hired in April by Fossil and let everyone know he was going to settle for nothing less than perfection in everything they did Tinker is from Tulsa, Oklahoma and you could say he’s been a football fan since he was first born. He started playing football in first grade for the Tulsa Boy’s Club and played the positions of middle linebacker and fullback. That was just the start of Tinker’s football career.

The new Sabercat head coach later went on to play traditional fullback and halfback for Graceland University in Iowa. In Tinker’s first year of college, Graceland went winless. Later they brought in a Boston College offensive line coach to turn things around.

Tinker has made changes through the coaching staff by bringing in semi-pro football players Joe Thornton, Corey Sample, Willie Copeland and Mike Henderson to help bring a winning culture to the Ridge. Senior running back Andrew Sprayberry said “ the workouts this summer that coach Tinker put us through were definitely the hardest. But we can tell it’s going to help in the long run.”

When asked about the expectations for this year’s football team he simply answered, “I just want the kid’s to have fun and be competitive, that’s all.” What would intrigue someone to take the Fossil job as Football coach when nothing has seemed to go their way since the school has opened? Coach Tinker believes that Fossil can be a lot more than it has been. And that’s what he’s looking to change.
