Rumors of threat at Fossil debunked

By: Kierra Vaughan, Tomas Muelling

As students probably have noticed, there were police officers wandering around Fossil Ridge High School throughout Friday, October 10, 2014. It should be known that there are no inherent threats to the school, all threats have been discredited.

These officers were responding to a threat that was brought to the attention of the school through student use of social media. The rumors originated in a post on Instagram which showed a screenshot of a text message sent from one student to another.

There was an extremely thorough investigation conducted in the school, including searches of every single locker in the entire building and inspecting bags at the choir concert on Thursday night.

After the investigation was completed Principal Will Allen can say with confidence that, “They conducted thorough investigations and there is zero evidence of threat or harm”.

The students involved will not be named but it should be known that they never exhibited any malicious intent and the entire dramatized event stemmed from an extended rumor. Allen also wanted to address that “We have amazing staff and students at Fossil Ridge High school…today the staff and kids were all so calm I was so proud of how everyone responded today. Bravo.”
