Cameren Torres, Staff Writer
Cameren Torres, a junior, is beginning his first year on the Etched In Stone staff. He is excited to start writing for the newspaper, as English classes have always come easy to him, and he enjoys writing articles. After months spent in quarantine, Torres explains that he is “happy to get back to school” and looks forward to what the rest of the year holds for him.
Beyond just school and Journalism, Torres loves music, skateboarding, wrestling, and trying new things. He described his music taste as incredibly diverse, enjoying everything from reggae to hip-hop to rock and alternative music. He also enjoys going to concerts, despite only having gone to one. Because big events like concerts were off the table over the summer, Torres spent a lot of time skateboarding, something he finds to be a lot of fun. In the past, he had loved participating in wrestling, only stopping this year. He decided that he did not further want to pursue the sport, but he still “loves the community.”
More than anything, Torres just likes to try new things and experience fresh aspects of life. Some things get boring to him very quickly, so getting out there and encountering new things makes him really happy.
At home, Torres lives with his mother and his two younger brothers, who are fourteen and twelve respectively. He loves meeting new people, and says that he is able to make new friends really easily. Although he has traveled a lot, Colorado is one of his favorite places, and he always ends up missing his home when he goes away. In the future, Torres does not have many concrete plans, but says that he is interested in teaching and loves the idea of helping and educating children. Overall, he just looks forward to whatever the future has in store for him and is excited for the upcoming year.
