Altitude Running Invite ends on a high

In the first varsity track meet in Fort Collins of the 2018 season, Fossil Ridge High School crossed the finish line in the top five. On Saturday, March 31 the Sabercats took the track at French Field and ended the day with the girls placing third as a team and the boys tied for fourth as a team.
The relay teams for Fossil out placed the competition with seven teams placing in the top five. For the boys 800m medley relay, the Sabercats placed first with a time of 1:39.96. The girls 4x800m relay also placed first with a time of 10:19.52. One relay team placed second and that was the boys 4x800m relay with a time of 8:42.80. Three teams placed third including the boy 4x200m relay (1:33.07), the girls 800m medley relay (1:59.19), and the girls 4x400m relay (4:17.06). The boys 4x400m relay placed fourth with a time of 3:38.28 and the girls 4x200m relay placed fifth with a time of 1:52.82.
For the individual events, Fossil dominated in the field. The girls stood out with several top five placings in all but one field events. Olivia Rankin has dominated high jump and long jump in the first couple meets; she placed second in the high jump with a height of 5-01.00 and placed fourth in the long jump with a distance of 16-03.25.
Lena Ray has also made an appearance in the top five for her two events; triple jump and pole vault. She placed second in triple jump with a distance of 33-10.00 and placed fourth in pole vault with a height of 8-06.00. Triple jump and pole vault were the two individual events that had a couple Sabercats in the top five. Madison Watt placed fifth in triple jump and Lacey Hancock also placed fifth but in pole vault.
Morgan Stewart took second place in the discus throw with a distance of 124-09.00, finishing behind the state champion Gabby McDonald from Rocky.
Adam Curran was the only male athlete that placed in a field event for Fossil. He placed fourth in pole vault with a height of 12-00.00.
Besides the relay teams, two Sabercats placed in running events. Blake Hubert, who holds a cross country school record, placed fourth in the 1600m run with a time of 4:40.82. Luke Brannen was the other Fossil runner that placed, he brought home fourth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.98.
Fossil will take the track at Echo Park Stadium on Saturday, April 7. Wish a Sabercat luck as they gear up to compete.
